ABSTRACT

The following report presents the process and final result of the multidisciplinary group Ready2Go’s work on the challenge presented by Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (SL) to convey statistics on ridership/congestion to passengers for journey planning. Through the design thinking process and using an iterative approach, the challenge was tackled from September 2020 until January 2021. It is important to refer to the COVID-19 pandemic declared by the World Health Organisation (WHO) was ongoing during this period, which had significant implications on the process and results achieved.

Travel Smart, the final outcome of the process, intends to influence passengers’ travel behaviours and avoid crowding in Public Transportation (PT) in Stockholm County. This solution focuses on travel distribution targeting passengers through an information campaign, giving tips on how to change and improve their travelling behaviours while nudging them with an incentive, a point system where registered passenger will be rewarded when travelling during non-rush hours.
